birthdays and goodbyes.

I'm back from spending a lovely few days with my family in Brisbane. The weekend was filled with friendly faces, drunken shenanigans and two of the loveliest children I know. Admittedly I don't know a lot of children, but my cousin's kids are so freakin' beautiful and lovely. It hurts so much when I have to say goodbye. I have posted about them before in Toddler vs Kangaroos but they have both changed so much! Kids grow up so damn fast, don't they?

The main reason for my visit was my cousin (not the one with kids) is moving back to London and there was a big family going away party. The family up there is so large that it's nearby impossible to have everyone in the same place at once. I'm so glad I was there - I do miss those guys a hell of a lot. Although I was the youngest one there (aside from the babies, lol), it didn't really matter. I just seem to be able to get along with them. Which begs the question, WHY DO I LIVE SO FAR AWAY? I complain, I do, but I don't think I could live in Brisbane. My little body and brain is too accustomed to Sydney weather - staying in Brisbane is like taking a trip to a sweaty but cold sauna. It's the weirdest feeling.

I already miss everyone. But I'll tell you what - it's nice to be home in my own bed. :)

  1. I love that photo of the cloudy horizon. And aww your cousin's kids are the definition of a-dor-a-ble. Seriously, that little girl has gorgeous blond hair. :)
I know exactly what you mean when it comes to travelling; you exit the airport and you're like whoa, this is weird. I once travelled somewhere that was incredibly hot/humid, and one step out was probably like the taste of flames.
Best wishes to your other cousin! I think he/she will love London, it'll be a truly interesting experience anyway.

  5. i love the clouds photo so much!! oh my gosh, those kids are soooo adorable. i feel you with living so far from family and kids grow so fast. i only get to see my family once or twice a year and it's such a bummer. and my niece turned 4 this year and it feels like yesterday she was just a little tiny baby. and why it is always the best thing about coming back from vacations is being back in your own bed?? i just wish i could pack my bed in a suitcase because my own bed beats every other bed.
